Grief Support After the Death of a Child

The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to

assist families toward the positive resolution of

grief following the death of a child and to provide

information to help others be supportive.  We are a

national nonprofit, self-help support organization

that offers friendship, understanding, and hope to

bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings.  Our

meetings are open to family members who are

grieving the death of a child of any age and by any

cause.  There is no religious affiliation, and there

are no membership dues or fees.  Our goal is that

everyone who needs us will find us and everyone

who finds us will be helped.

Program:  February Meeting Includes Valentines, Chapter Butterfly Board and Small Groups

February is a month which tugs at every bereaved parent's heart. The February meeting will Include writing Valentines

to our children and, for those who would like to do so, writing Valentines to ourselves from our children. This can be a very

healing and cathartic exercise. It Is your choice as to how much you write in your Valentine. Participation is encouraged,

but, as always, if this Is uncomfortable to you, we will have other activities and discussions.

We hope you are able to attend our February Valentine meeting. This year one or our new members, Joyce Bode, has

created a lovely gift for our chapter. We will each write our child's name on a butterfly and attach It permanently to a

beautiful VanGogh flower print. The framed print will then become a part or a chapter's memories. We will begin that

process February 9.

Small group discussions will take a different trajectory as we move away from the holidays and toward the season of

renewal .... spring.

We hope you are able to join us at our February meeting.
