Grief Support After the Death of a Child

The mission of The Compassionate Friends is to assist families

toward the positive resolution of grief following the death of a

child and to provide information to help others be supportive.

We are a national nonprofit, self-help support organization that

offers friendship, understanding, and hope to bereaved parents,

grandparents and siblings.  Our meetings are open to family

members who are grieving the death of a child of any age and by

any cause.  There is no religious affiliation, and there are no

membership dues or fees.  Our goal is that everyone who needs

us will find us and everyone who finds us will be helped.

PROGRAM: Integrating the Loss of Your Child Into Your Life

The loss of your child to death is probably going to be the most single defining moment of your life. Everything from this point

forward will be “before” and “after” my child died. That is how we perceive our lives.

Integrating this tragic, life-changing loss into our lives can cause isolation, depression, anger, guilt, resentment, anxiety and

many other emotions. But this is our reality, and we must take steps to accept this change in our lives.

At our February meeting, we will be discussing this most important aspect of our grief journey. When first we begin this

journey, we are overwhelmed by our loss. But as time moves forward, we find new internal conflicts. We will be discussing both

the initial loss and the move forward in time as weeks, months and years pass since our child died. Your feedback and ideas

are most appreciated by each parent who is now dealing with this heartbreaking adjustment to a new reality.

We hope you are able to join us at our February meeting on February 14, 2012, at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm.
